1사울이 블레셋 사람을 따르다가 돌아오매 혹이 그에게 고하여 가로되 보소서 다윗이 엔게디 황무지에 있더이다 2사울이 온 이스라엘에서 택한 사람 삼천을 거느리고 다윗과 그의 사람들을 찾으러 들염소 바위로 갈쌔 3길 가 양의 우리에 이른즉 굴이 있는지라 사울이 그 발을 가리우러 들어가니라 다윗과 그의 사람들이 그 굴 깊은 곳에 있더니 4다윗의 사람들이 가로되 보소서 여호와께서 당신에게 이르시기를 내가 원수를 네 손에 붙이리니 네 소견에 선한대로 그에게 행하라 하시더니 이것이 그 날이니이다 다윗이 일어나서 사울의 겉옷자락을 가만히 베니라

1After Saul returned from pursuing the Philistines, he was told, “David is in the Desert of En Gedi.” 2So Saul took three thousand able young men from all Israel and set out to look for David and his men near the Crags of the Wild Goats. 3He came to the sheep pens along the way; a cave was there, and Saul went in to relieve himself. David and his men were far back in the cave. 4The men said, “This is the day the Lord spoke of when he said to you, ‘I will give your enemy into your hands for you to deal with as you wish.’ ” Then David crept up unnoticed and cut off a corner of Saul’s robe.
